We are glad that you are interested in coming to Indonesia as an Au-Pair. If you are finally going to make this decision it will certainly be a courageous decision, because an Au-Pair stay always means making new experiences, taking a step forward, but it also means being far away from loved ones at home for a long time. Not everybody is able or willing to do this and it's no shame to admit that. Find out for yourself if you're ready and open for new experiences and if you're willed to be away from home for some period. Your independence and your will to practise living independendly are demanded.
Requirements
If you want to come to Indonesia as an Au-Pair for one year, you have to
You should be self-confident rather than timid. Please consider that you'll be living in a country for one year whose habits may be unknown to you and whose language you may not be able to speak, especially in the beginning of your stay. Nevertheless you should be capable of going by train on your own or asking a passerby for help. Although you may be used to getting help from your parents or brothers and sisters you'll now be on your own, living independently. Of course the host family will support you, but to some extend - for example how to spend your free time - you'll have to take the initiative.
If you meet these requirements you should apply now!
Fitzeman is finding Indonesian host families for Au-Pairs in Indonesia. It would be a pleasure for us if you were one of these Au-Pairs. The whole procurement will be free of charge for you. You will only have to pay for the journey to Indonesia, cost for Indonesian language course and the application for a visa. Last but not least you will have to send in the application documents for your Au-Pair stay filled out completely and correctly in English, German or in Bahasa Indonesia!
What does it mean to be an Au-Pair?
Young people are getting the possibility to learn the German language and to increase their knowledge about the people in this country. As an Au-Pair you get your own room, free meals, and a monthly amount of 100,- € as spending money from your host family. You also have to pay for your assurance.
As a consideration you help the family with the care of the children and in the household. An Au-Pair stay is no regular employment contract, but also no vacation. You are integrated as a member of the family into your host family and have corresponding rights and duties. The weekly working hours of an Au-Pair amount to 25 hours. Please do not expect that these times are continuous or uninterrupted, e.g. from 8-13 o'clock, and afterwards your spare time begins. An Au-Pair is directed after the needs of the host family. For example there can be days in which one hour of work in the morning and 4 hours of work at noon may arise, or there are days in which you are needed 6-7 hours and the next day there are only two or three hours. The activities which are expected from all members of a family, as for example setting and clearing the table, do not belong to the working hours. Naturally the meals which you take with the children or the family also do not belong to the working hours.
Activities of an Au-Pair can be for example: accompanying the children to the kindergarten or school and fetching them again, occupying the children, playing with the children, clearing up the children's room. In the household the family will expect from you that you clear up, e.g. the kitchen, help cooking meals or prepare meals independently on your own. Also cleaning and ironing belong to the tasks of an Au-Pair. You should support the housewife or houseman at the everyday works and take some of her or his tasks.
An Au-Pair is no cleaning crew! Thus, for example, activities like window cleaning or car washing are no Au-Pair activities. The family will discuss a plan together with you and will also be directed by your wishes and abilities.
Language course
You will visit an Indonesian langauge course in Indonesia, mostly at an adult education program. This course is at your own expense, you pay for it with the money you’ll get as your allowance or spending money. The courses take place once to twice a week. Not the Indonesian language course should have precedence, but the everyday use of the Indonesian language in the family, in the circle of friends and in the country in general.
What we require from you
Basics of the Indonesian language are not a condition but you have to register at one of the Indonesian course, which we offer and it will be on your own cost.
Fill out the application papers in German, Bahasa Indonesia or English and without help from others. We can tell you what exactly we do need from you if you send us an email. Amongst other things we need from you, for example, a letter to the potential host family! If you have not written the letter to the family on your own, please note that. In any case please write in this letter in detail about yourself, your hobbies, images about your future life in professional and private regard, but also about your dreams, wishes and ideals.
If you give wrong information in your application papers you will have to fight big problems in Indonesia and we are sure you certainly do not want this. Wrong information will be detected very fast when you’ll actually be here and can annoy your host family very much. Giving wrong information may even lead to the fact that you must abort your stay and go home immediately.
These are the application papers which we need from you:
